Fitness Assessment

The Fitness Assessment is a great way in which you can gauge your own fitness and set goals throughout your time with British Forces Fitness. The Fitness Assessment is optional and therefore there is no pressure to complete it and you can stop at any time.
Depending on the time of year and the ground conditions the aerobic aspect of the Fitness test will either compromise of a best effort run around the venue field (which is no more that 800 metres) or the Muli Stage Fitness Test (MSFT).

The Multi Stage Fitness Test (MSFT)

PART  1

The MSFT involves continuous running between two lines 20m apart reaching each line in time with a series of audio beeps, the elapsed time between each bleep is reduced every minute and thus in turn the client is required to increase their running speed for each level. For this reason the test if also often called the ”bleep” test. The MSFT will determine your VO2 Max which is considered the best indicator of cardio respiratory endurance. The higher your VO2 Max score the fitter you are.
PART 2

The second part of the Fitness Assessment comprises of 1 minute (best effort) of press ups. This part of the test is designed to test the muscular endurance of the upper body.
There will be a short pause between the press ups, sit ups and squats to allow the instructors to demonstrate correct technique to be used for each exercise.

PART 3

The third part of the Fitness Assessment comprises of 1 minute (best effort) of sit ups. This part of the assessment tests the muscular endurance of the core of the body (Abdomen).

PART 4

This is the fourth and Final part of the Fitness Assessment, it comprises of 1 minute (best effort) of squats. This part of the assessment tests the muscular endurance of the legs.
